High altitude sleeping systems are the most widely used technique for high altitude trainings. It combines prolonged overnight exposures to hypoxic air with trainings breathing “regular” air in lowlands.
This methodology avoids problems with permanent stay in high altitude heights such as muscle diminution, worsen lymphatic system function, increased dehydration, weariness or limited training possibilities due to a lower oxygen level in air. Using hypoxic tent, users can safely and effectively gain the positive effects of hypoxia exposure.
High altitude training systems – another dimension of high-altitude simulation systems is increasing the calorie expenditure and physiological adaptation while training. Using the hypoxicator together with additional weighting loads enables both top and recreational athletes gain hypoxia benefits.
Recent studies show that combination of 2-3 hypoxic training sessions of middle intensity within one week (trainings situated in lowlands “normal” altitude level) can increase the body performance to levels which are not achievable using only high altitudes sleeping systems. Middle intensity hypoxic trainings lowers the oxygen saturation (SaO2) from 98% (standard level) to 83-85%. Using the hypoxic sleeping systems in similar conditions even with high intensity only lowers the oxygen saturation to 95%.
This state is strongly connected with the mitochondrial adaptation as well as with the change of anaerobic energetical coverage. Higher intensity of muscles work load leads to higher body´s need for energy production using the way of metabolizing fats.
High altitude systems for body comfort increase – relaxation in a cozy chair and reading or watching TV while being exposed to a high altitude. The intermittent hypoxic therapy (IHT) can be used to improve prevention against chronic diseases and for overall betterment of health. It is successfully used for treatment of asthma, allergies, diabetes, sleeping disorders and many other degenerative or chronical diseases. IHT is the latest methodology of high altitudes trainings. It influences health in general in a positive way, increases vitality and personal well-being. It involves short intervals of breathing hypoxic air (3-5 minutes, 9-10% O2, 6000 m) and breathing regular air (2-5 minutes). These hypoxic and hypercapnic (increased CO2) cycles encourage natural physiological body mechanisms, which can be seen during the embryonal development of mammals and help newborns to deal with initial oxidative stress after being born. The same effect can increase prevention against oxidative stress for adults. This has a high potential of dealing with the following:
